AD&D Insurance

Community 1st Credit Union offers all its members - 18 and older - up to $1,500 in Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance, free-of-charge. The coverage is underwritten by Hartford Life Insurance Company and is provided at no charge to you, provided you maintain your account and for as long as we sponsor the program. All coverage is reduced by half at age 70.

AD&D insurance provides coverage in the event of a loss of life, limb, sight, speech or hearing due to a covered accident. Benefits are paid regardless of any other insurance policies you may have and the benefit doubles if loss of life occurs when traveling by common carrier. Your coverage is always in effect whether you’re at home, at work or traveling for any purpose - and best of all - acceptance is guaranteed. There are no medical exams or health questionnaires to complete.

In addition to this complementary coverage, you can also purchase supplementary individual or family coverage. If you wish, there is an annual enrollment opportunity to increase your coverage amount. As much as $300,000 of accident protection is available – in addition to your no-cost $1,500 of protection. You will need to review this option with our insurance provider to gather information on costs, possible general exclusions, limitations and terms of coverage.

As a Community 1st Credit Union member you are guaranteed this coverage, but you must enroll to activate it. Please take a moment to complete the AD&D enrollment form that was provided in your Community 1st new member packet or visit one of our branches to obtain the form or complete it online. Every member that completes and returns an enrollment form will be accepted.

Your coverage will become effective on the first day of the month on the next available quarterly effective date following receipt of your enrollment form and your coverage will be automatically renewed each year when the Community 1st Master Policy is renewed.

In the event of an accidental death, this insurance will pay benefits in addition to any life insurance held by the client. Some of the covered accidents include traffic accidents, exposure, homicide, falls, heavy equipment accidents, and drowning.
