Loan Protection

Life is unpredictable. Credit Protection can greatly contribute to your peace of mind and help relieve the financial stress and worry related to making loan payments when your life takes an unexpected turn.

If you're like most people, you may be worried about unexpected, real-life events that could happen during the term of your loan. Things such as losing your job or getting injured that leave you scrambling to pay your monthly bills.

Credit Protection protects you, your family and your credit rating. You have the peace of mind knowing your monthly loan payments will be cancelled in the event of accidental death and suspends payments in the event of death, disability, involuntary unemployment, hospital stay or family leave. With Credit Protection, your consumer or home equity loan payments* will be cancelled or suspended without penalty, added interest, or being reported as delinquent to the credit bureau when one of the covered events occur:

Helps you avoid bills piling up as you try to regain your health and earning capacity. Use as a supplement to any disability coverage you may have at work (which usually only covers 60% of pay).

Gives you assurance during a difficult time that one of your major monthly expenses will be taken care of as you search for new employment.

Provides peace of mind and one less worry while you’re recovering in hospital.

Helps your family with a major expense during a traumatic time – such as the loss of a job or family member.

When you apply for Credit Protection, you have 30 days to review your plan. If you are not satisfied with the plan or if your situation changes, you can cancel it at any time. If you do so within the first 30 days, any fees paid will be refunded.

There are six plans to choose from. Pricing will vary based on the level of coverage you choose and the balance of your loan.
